Good things should never end

Image: Poke London

Two websites that I have heard people talk about lately are Poke's Unlimited for Orange and MOMA's online version of the exhibition Design and the Elastic Mind. The latter shows a fairly novel and cool way of supporting regular browsing with additional interactive illustrations. The former is unlike anything I've seen before: a long, almost infinitive, path of small interactions and games that make life much more pleasurable. Simply because, as we all know, "good things should never end".

I adore.

Pata, pata, pata pon!

This blog is not turning into a video game review blog. I can assure you that. Still, I simply can't resist talking about one of the latest Sony PSP games, Patapon. I tell y'all right now, this game's cuteness knows no limits. None. What. So. Ever. The storyline is even more satisfying than an Oscar night full of gala gowns: An army of small, yet brave, warriors (Patapon) have lost their (war) rhythm and it is up to you to help them get it back.

The rest is, as we say: "PATA PATA PATA PON".

It'll stick to your brain. For sure.

Bestest games ever

Image: zefrank.com

So, I ended up marrying a video game producer. You may not realize, but our marriage is actually a miracle. You see, I am not only the wife of a talented video game producer, I am also the daughter of an incurable long-long-long-term solitaire addict and as such I can't even begin to start counting the number of times I have wished that all computer games (and I really mean all...except Monkey Island) would go away. Forever.

Luckily, Tom just makes games; he rarely plays them. At least not around me. And if he ever does, he is far too restless to play solitaire and he is definitely too restless to play the same game over and over again for 15 years. So, I guess what it all comes down to is that I am pretty OK with it all, actually.

Now, if by any chance this blog post made you want to kick open the door to the wonderful world of games (or just happen to be tired of playing Guitar Hero), I'd strongly recommend Zefrank's three religion games: the Christian, the Atheist, and the Buddhist.

His iPhone is broken

Image: The Sydney Morning Herald

Tom's almost-as-dear-to-me-as-Paulina-iPhone apparently didn't like San Francisco. How else am I supposed to interpret the fact that it suddenly stopped working after a day or two in SF? The phone is not completely dead, but at least the speaker is, which means that when we talk I can hear him but he can't hear me:

- Ring, ring.
- Tom speaking.
- Hi, it's me. Paulina.
- Hello?
- Hi. It's me.
- Hello??
- HIIII IT'S MEEEE. PAAAULINAAA.
- I can't hear you. I think my phone is fu**ed up. Anyway, if you can hear me I just want you to know that I love you and that I miss you so much. Bye.
- (Paulina, so sad that she is not able to express her feelings) *sob*

Call ended.

Later that week.

- Ring, ring.
- Hey, it's me aga...
- (Tom, interrupting) Hey it's Tom. I'm still not able to hear you. I don't know why you are calling but I can tell you that I just got out of the airport and am waiting for the bus. I'll be home in less than an hour.
- (Paulina, amazed by the fact that Tom knew why she was calling but still frustrated) *sob*

Conclusion: This whole one-way-communication things seems to work better than I would ever expect but it still makes me slightly uncomfortable. You see, it has a very obvious phone sex/hot line kind of feeling to it. All I have to do is call a number to listen to Tom's kind words and he has no idea what I am doing on the other end.

Vi håller tyst om Oscar, va?

Image: Just Jared
